ICC Test Player Rankings: Shakeel Climbs, Root Reclaims Top Spot

Notable advancements in the ICC Test Player Rankings have been achieved by Pakistani batsmen Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub. Following England’s triumph over India in the third Test at Lord’s, the rankings have seen some movement, including a new number one batter.

Batting Rankings: Shakeel and Ayub Make Strides

Saud Shakeel has ascended one position to secure 12th place in the Test batting rankings, currently holding 739 rating points.

Saim Ayub has entered the rankings, securing joint-83rd position alongside South Africa’s Marco Jansen. Both players hold 352 points, a position also shared by Aamer Jamal.

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have maintained their 21st and 23rd positions, respectively, while Salman Ali Agha has descended three places to 37th.

Shan Masood, the Test captain, remains steady at 48th, while Abdullah Shafique has climbed one spot to 51st with 520 points. Kamran Ghulam, a middle-order batter, continues at 76th.

Top Order Shakeup

England’s Joe Root has regained the number one Test batter position, displacing his teammate Harry Brook, who has fallen to third. Kane Williamson of New Zealand now holds second place.

Bowling Rankings: Noman Ali Holds Firm

Spinner Noman Ali has retained his fifth-place spot in the Test bowling rankings with 806 points. However, Sajid Khan has slipped one position to 20th, while Shaheen Afridi has moved down to 21st.

Mohammad Abbas remains steady at 27th, followed by Naseem Shah at 35th and Abrar Ahmed at 50th.

Fast bowler Khurram Shahzad is positioned at 64th, while Aamer Jamal has dropped one spot to 72nd. Mir Hamza holds the 93rd position, Agha Salman is at 95th, and Zahid Mahmood completes the list at 97th.

Jasprit Bumrah of India continues to lead the Test bowling rankings, followed by South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada in second and Australia’s Pat Cummins in third.

All-Rounders Rankings: Changes Noted

In the ICC Test all-rounders rankings, Noman Ali has declined two places to 22nd, Sajid Khan is down one spot to 31st, and Agha Salman is at 33rd.

Aamer Jamal has fallen two places to 42nd, while Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah remain at 55th and 75th, respectively. Mohammad Abbas holds the 80th position.

Ravindra Jadeja of India continues to lead the Test all-rounders, followed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh in second and Wiaan Mulder of South Africa in third.
