Kohistan Corruption Scandal: Luxury Vehicles and Properties Unearthed
A significant scandal has emerged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as details, images, and videos related to extravagant vehicles and properties have surfaced concerning the Rs40 billion Kohistan corruption case.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has escalated its involvement, transforming the initial inquiry into a comprehensive investigation, indicating a strong move against corruption.
Assets worth approximately Rs25 billion have been recovered and frozen. These include a lavish bungalow featured in the well-known drama serial ‘Pari Zaad’, alongside 77 high-value vehicles valued at Rs940 million, such as Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche Taycan, Toyota Land Cruiser, Fortuner, and Hilux Revo.
NAB has also seized over Rs1 billion in liquid assets, including foreign currency, and more than three kilogrammes of gold. Additionally, Rs5 billion has been frozen across 73 various bank accounts, and authorities have taken possession of 30 houses, 25 apartments, and four farmhouses. Arrests of key individuals are anticipated in the coming hours.
Officials have confirmed that NAB has impounded 77 upscale vehicles worth around Rs940 million. The seized vehicles include models like the Porsche Taycan, Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus, Fortuner, Hilux Revo, Mark X, BMW, Mercedes, Ford Mustang, and Audi.
Moreover, 109 properties located in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Mansehra have been confiscated. This includes four farmhouses, 12 commercial buildings, two commercial plots, 30 houses, 12 shops and food courts, 25 apartments and penthouses, as well as 175 kanals of agricultural land.
The estimated total value of these properties is approximately Rs17 billion. Official sources suggest that significant arrests are imminent within the next 24 to 48 hours, with necessary preparations currently in progress.
This large-scale fraud was purportedly executed through clear collusion involving government officials, contractors, cooperative banking institutions, and other parties.
The individuals involved allegedly acted boldly, diverting billions of rupees from public funds without attracting scrutiny from financial regulatory bodies.
