Pakistan Advances to Crossover Stage in Asian U-16 Volleyball Championship
Pakistan’s Under-16 volleyball team showcased their prowess at the Asian Championship in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, securing a decisive 3-0 victory against Chinese Taipei in their final group match.
The match, lasting one hour and 17 minutes, saw Pakistan clinch the sets with scores of 26-24, 25-14, and 25-16. The success was largely attributed to standout performances by Faizanullah, Talha Maher, and Muhammad Junaid.
This victory cemented Pakistan’s position at the top of Group D. They concluded the group stage with an unblemished record, winning all three matches without conceding a set.
Dominating Performance
The campaign began with a convincing 3-0 victory over South Korea, with set scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-8. Talha, Junaid, Wahab, Irfan, Faizan, and Sanan all delivered remarkable performances.
In their second match, Pakistan overwhelmed Saudi Arabia with a 3-0 victory, achieving set scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-11. Throughout the group stage, the team displayed excellent coordination and increasing confidence.
Pakistan and South Korea have both progressed to the crossover stage from Pool D. Here, Pakistan will compete against the top two teams from Pool B for a spot in the knockout rounds.
Championship Details
The Asian Volleyball Confederation is hosting the championship across Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi in Thailand. The competition includes 16 teams divided into four pools.
- The top four teams will earn direct qualification to the expanded 24-team FIVB U17 World Championship in 2026.
- The semifinals and final of the Asian U16 Championship are scheduled for July 19.
- The continental champions will be crowned at the final.
