Williamson lauds Kohli’s Dominance in India

Kane Williamson, the seasoned New Zealand batsman, has showered accolades on Virat Kohli, the Indian batting maestro, recognizing him as the preeminent all-format player of the past 15 years.

The former captain of New Zealand, currently in the UK participating in Division 2 of the County Championship for Middlesex, engaged with broadcasters during the ongoing India-England series while training in Northwood.

During the conversation, Williamson celebrated Kohli as the ‘greatest’ player across all formats in the last 15 years, praising his exceptional ability to maintain his top position in a nation deeply passionate about cricket like India.

“Virat is arguably the most outstanding all-format player we have witnessed in the last 15 years. He faces unique pressures, being at the pinnacle in a country where cricket is a major passion,” Williamson remarked.

“There are wonderful relationships and friendships with everyone in different ways, and we have maintained contact frequently. However, there isn’t much of a competitive element. Ultimately, you’re part of teams committed to competing for them,” he continued.

Williamson also mentioned a recent meeting with Virat Kohli, who is now residing in the UK with his family.

“Indeed, we did meet. It was quite amusing to see how things have come full circle. Beyond cricket, we’ve lived our lives somewhat parallel for a significant portion, experiencing similar milestones like having children around the same time and navigating different life stages. This creates connections on various levels.”
