PCB to Evaluate PSL Assets for Future Strategy
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has opted to assess the worth of Pakistan Super League (PSL) assets to inform upcoming strategic decisions, according to sources.
The valuation encompasses all six franchises and their commercial rights. Crucially, key decisions concerning participating teams, title sponsorship arrangements, and broadcasting rights are anticipated prior to the next edition of the league.
This development follows debriefing sessions helmed by PSL CEO Salman Naseer, involving significant stakeholders at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Attendees included franchise representatives, the title sponsor, media rights partners, and commercial affiliates.
During these sessions, the PSL management team presented comprehensive data and analytics, underscoring the league’s growth over the past decade. A comparative analysis highlighting the progression from the ninth to the tenth editions was also provided.
Reflecting on ten years of progress, CEO Salman Naseer stated that the PSL has become a globally recognized brand, noting the tenth edition broke viewership records.
Naseer added, “The Pakistan Super League has progressed significantly since its creation. The HBL PSL’s tenth edition marked a decade of cricketing success and celebrated passion, resilience, and unity.”
He highlighted the increase in digital engagement, noting how fan consumption patterns have evolved over time.
“The considerable increase in digital engagement, notably the 647 percent increase in live streaming, demonstrates the league’s growing appeal among cricket enthusiasts,” he stated.
