Supreme Judicial Council Rejects Proposal to Publicize Judges’ Names in Resolved Complaints

Sources familiar with the situation have revealed that the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has turned down a suggestion to release the identities of judges against whom complaints have been addressed.

According to an official statement, the SJC collectively dismissed 19 complaints submitted by various individuals under Article 209 of the Constitution. However, it postponed a decision on five additional complaints for further review.

The assembly, presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, took place at the Supreme Court in Islamabad. The session spanned two hours and included attendance from Justice Mansoor Ali Shah (via video link), Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Aalia Neelum, and Justice Junaid Ghaffar.

Sources indicate that the council opted to uphold its established policy of non-disclosure regarding the names of the judges involved.

The official statement detailed that the council assessed a total of 24 complaints filed by different individuals under Article 209 of the Constitution.

Furthermore, the council sanctioned the suggested outline for the Supreme Judicial Council Secretariat Service Rules, 2025.

The SJC also determined that the process for conducting inquiries and revisions to the Code of Conduct necessitated examination from both legal and drafting standpoints, thus warranting further discussion.
