Pakistan U-16 Volleyball Team Victorious Against South Korea

BANGKOK: Pakistan’s U-16 volleyball team commenced their journey in the Asian Championship with a commanding victory over South Korea. The match took place on Saturday in Thailand.

The young Pakistani team, competing in Group D, showcased remarkable skill, securing a straight-set 3-0 triumph against Korea. The set scores were 25-16, 25-19, and 25-8.

Key players, including Talha, Junaid, Wahab, Irfan, Faizan, and Sanan, delivered outstanding performances, driving the team to this significant win.

This impressive victory establishes a positive foundation for Pakistan as they progress through the group stages of the continental tournament.

Upcoming Match

Pakistan is set to compete against Saudi Arabia in their second group match on Sunday, with the aim of maintaining their winning streak.

Tournament Details

The Asian Volleyball Confederation is hosting the tournament in Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi, featuring 16 teams organized into four groups.

The top four teams will automatically qualify for the 2026 FIVB U17 World Championship, which will be expanded to include 24 teams, an increase from 16 in its initial edition last year.

Pakistan is positioned in Pool D alongside Chinese Taipei (the 2023 bronze medalists), South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

The team is scheduled to play Saudi Arabia on July 13 and will conclude the group stage with a match against Chinese Taipei on July 14.

The tournament will utilize a round-robin group stage format, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the classification rounds. The semifinals and finals are scheduled for July 19, where the continental champions will be determined.
