Punjab to Reinstate Grade 8 Board Exams

The government of Punjab has resolved to bring back board examinations for students in Grade 8, reversing a previous policy that had suspended these exams for several years.

This decision came about during a significant meeting led by Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat.

The minister verified the resolution to reinstate the Grade 8 board examinations, mentioning that a detailed strategy, covering syllabus creation and management logistics, will be completed within the next month.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed reinforcing the internal assessment system for students in Grades 5 through 7.

The Education Minister stated that evaluations for students in Grades 5, 6, and 7 will be administered as assessment tests, with the purpose of measuring student progress and the efficiency of teaching methods.

He added that a structure for these internal evaluations would be developed within a month.

While the Grade 5 scholarship examination will remain on hold, authorities have stated that internal assessments are being launched to close the evaluation gap and guarantee consistent academic monitoring.

The discussion also included initiatives to modernise learning, such as converting Matric and Grade 11 textbooks into video format to enhance visual learning together with traditional methods.

The education minister gave instructions for the immediate printing and checking of textbooks to ensure smooth academic operations for the coming session.
