Parker Aims to Avenge 2018 Loss Against Joshua

Former WBO heavyweight champion and current interim titleholder, Joseph Parker, has expressed a strong desire to settle the score against Anthony Joshua, following his defeat in their 2018 encounter.

Joshua, who recently announced his return to the ring slated for December 2025, has been out of action since September 2024, after his match against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium where he suffered some injuries.

The British boxer initially intended to make a comeback during the summer; however, an elbow injury forced a postponement of his plans. Now, after recovering successfully, his promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed Joshua’s return to the ring at the end of the year.

In a recent interview, Parker was questioned about which fight he would prefer most. He promptly named Joshua, who defeated him in 2018.

“Avenging the fight against AJ is what I want most because I was a very different fighter back in 2018 compared to who I am today. AJ has also evolved. He’s been a prominent figure in boxing, attracting significant attention to the sport, and I am eager to avenge that defeat. I would relish the chance to fight Joshua,” Parker stated.

“I understand he underwent surgery and is planning his comeback. Should the opportunity arise, I will embrace it wholeheartedly, as it promises to be a great fight. If he remains motivated and passionate about boxing, he should continue. He still has much to offer.”

Parker currently holds the interim WBO title and has his sights set on a world title, while Joshua seeks a triumphant return, potentially making this fight mutually beneficial.
