Nine passengers who were abducted and later killed in a brutal militant attack in the Zhob district of Balochistan have been laid to rest after their bodies were returned to their hometowns across Punjab.
The passengers were traveling from Quetta to Lahore when armed militants intercepted their bus, forcibly checked their identity cards, and took selected individuals away before executing them. The victims included residents from cities such as Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Lodhran, and Attock.
Among the victims were two brothers from Lodhran who were returning from their father’s funeral. Their tragic deaths in front of their family members have sparked outrage and sorrow across communities.
The militant group responsible claimed the act was a targeted operation. The government has vowed to bring those responsible to justice and to take strict action against any groups fueling violence in the region.
Officials emphasized that such attacks are designed to destabilize the province and divide communities, but they reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring peace and holding the culprits accountable.
Security operations have been launched in the affected region, with law enforcement agencies intensifying their presence along key travel routes to prevent further such incidents.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and have reiterated that the safety and protection of all citizens, especially those traveling through conflict-prone areas, remains a top priority.
