ACC Annual General Meeting to Proceed in Dhaka Despite Objections

The Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for July 23 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, even with reservations from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), sources have indicated.

ACC President Mohsin Naqvi convened the meeting, which marks the first time it has been held in Bangladesh in several years.

The BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) initially voiced opposition, suggesting adjustments to both the location and timing of the AGM.

Despite these concerns, the ACC, under Naqvi’s leadership, is likely to keep Dhaka as the designated venue. This decision aligns with the schedule of the upcoming three-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, ensuring the presence of numerous ACC representatives in the city at that time.

Consequently, the council has formally invited all member nations, providing a two-week notice and offering the option of virtual attendance.

Virtual Participation Endorsed

“Virtual meetings have become commonplace globally, with the ACC and ICC having conducted several in the past,” an ACC source noted.

This development follows reports from last month that the schedule for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 would be revealed in July.

Reports suggest the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a strong contender to host the tournament due to disagreements between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the BCCI.

According to Indian media outlets, if arrangements progress as expected, the tournament is expected to commence in the second week of September, with September 10 being considered as a potential start date.
