Hasan Ali Aims for National Representation in Upcoming Tournaments
Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali has voiced his strong desire to play for the national team in prominent upcoming tournaments, including the 2025 Asia Cup and the 2026 T20 World Cup.
In a recent interview, Hasan emphasised that his selection hinges on his performance in the months ahead.
“My selection depends on how well I perform; the team management will consider me if I execute well. It’s always an honor to represent Pakistan, and I aim to contribute meaningfully to the country and our fans,” Hasan stated.
Reflecting on His Journey
Hasan openly discussed the hurdles he has navigated throughout his international career since his debut.
“Since my debut on August 18, 2016, I’ve encountered numerous highs and lows. However, my dedication to cricket has remained strong. I firmly believe that each day offers new opportunities, and persistence is key,” he added.
Currently, the 31-year-old is not included in the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, set to commence on July 20 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Reportedly, this exclusion is temporary as he continues his stint in the County Championship in England.
Hasan is currently representing Warwickshire in the Vitality Blast 2025, where he has showcased remarkable form, securing his position as the third-highest wicket-taker with 21 wickets in nine matches, maintaining an economy rate of 8.43.
During a recent T20I home series against Bangladesh, he made a comeback to the national side, emerging as Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker.
Ali took eight wickets in three matches, including a five-wicket haul, with an economy rate of 9.53.
Sources indicate that selectors are likely to consider Hasan for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies, scheduled for August.
On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 15-member squad for the Bangladesh T20Is, with all-rounder Salman Ali Agha retaining the captaincy.
Vice-captain Shadab Khan and pacer Haris Rauf have been sidelined due to injuries.
Shadab recently underwent successful shoulder surgery in the UK to address a lingering issue.
Rauf sustained a Grade 1 hamstring injury while playing for San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025.
Mohammad Nawaz has been named in the squad due to their absence, and left-arm pacer Salman Mirza received his first national call-up following standout performances in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
Nawaz last played a T20I for Pakistan in January 2024 against New Zealand and has been out of the national team since.
The Pakistan squad is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on July 16, with the T20I matches slated for July 20, 22, and 24 in Dhaka.
