Tragic Robbery Claims Life in Karachi’s Orangi Town

In a distressing incident highlighting the persistent issue of street crime in Karachi, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot during a robbery attempt in Orangi Town on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Jibran, had recently returned from Saudi Arabia following the passing of his father, according to police reports.

Family members recounted that Jibran was sitting outside his residence when he was accosted by armed robbers. The assailants shot him before fleeing with his mobile phone and wallet.

The bereaved family is now appealing to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other relevant authorities, urging them to take decisive action to ensure the swift apprehension and punishment of those responsible.

Law enforcement officials have stated that the suspects are currently at large, and efforts are underway to locate them.

Separate Incident: CTD Officer Injured

In a separate development, a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officer sustained injuries in a shooting incident in Sector 22 of Shah Latif Town. The injured officer was promptly transported to a medical facility, and an investigation has been launched.

Escalating Street Crime Concerns

The tragic killing in Orangi Town contributes to the growing number of fatal robbery incidents plaguing Karachi.

  • In May, Anas, a 22-year-old real estate professional, was killed in a robbery attempt in Shadman Town.
  • Prior to Eid ul Adha in June, a goat trader named Miandad was injured by robbers near Ayesha Manzil, who stole 12 goats.

Despite widespread public concern and repeated calls for action, Karachi continues to struggle with a surge in violent street crimes, with at least 40 deaths linked to robberies reported this year alone.
