UFC White House Event: Trump’s July 4 Celebration Plans

Former mixed martial artist Daniel Cormier has voiced his support for Jon Jones, his long-time rival, should Jones return from retirement to participate in the UFC event at the White House, slated for the 2026 Independence Day celebrations.

Donald Trump recently announced that a UFC event at the White House is being considered as part of the forthcoming July 4th festivities.

Discussions have begun regarding potential participants to elevate the event’s appeal. With Kayla Harrison being the sole current American champion and no Americans in the top 10 of the men’s pound-for-pound rankings, the selection is crucial.

Following Trump’s announcement, Jones quickly signaled his interest in the White House event.

In a post on X, Jones, though currently inactive, expressed his enthusiasm for competing outside a prominent government building, stating, “Fighting at the White House? (eyes emoji)”

He further hinted at ongoing preparations in a subsequent post.

“Just re-entered the testing pool, which lasted about two weeks. Figured we’d keep everyone’s options open,” Jones shared on X.

Cormier, a longtime adversary of Jones, remarked that he would back his fellow countryman if the retired MMA icon decided to compete at the White House event.

“(It needs) a bad, bad American that’s gonna win. It pains me to say, if we’ve gotta send one bad American out there to get the job done…call Jon Jones,” Cormier stated.

“I would cheer so hard for him! I would cheer so hard for him on the White House. I know you guys always say I’m hard on Jones, if we’ve gotta send one American fighter out to the White House to get a dub, man, send Jon Jones out there.

“I’ll call him to ask him,” Cormier added. “I love Colby (Covington), I love Michael (Chandler)…if we’ve gotta do one American dude, man, you better go put Jon Jones out there to go get us a dub as a country.”
