Fury Expected to Return to Boxing in Riyadh Season 2026
RIYADH: Boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh revealed on Wednesday that Tyson Fury is planning to return to the ring during Riyadh Season 2026.
Fury initially announced his retirement from boxing in January 2025, following a defeat by Oleksandr Usyk, a match that saw the Ukrainian become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Alalshikh shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he has been in contact with Fury, who has committed to making a comeback.
“The ‘Gypsy King’ will be back. I have spoken with him, and he has pledged to participate in Riyadh Season in 2026. We have a target,” Alalshikh posted.
Fury had previously referred to Usyk as a ‘rabbit’ before their title fight in Riyadh in May 2024.
Following Alalshikh’s announcement, Fury also suggested his return by posting on social media: “Let’s see what 2026 brings”, accompanied by a picture of him shaking hands with Alalshikh, who is also the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority.
Alalshikh has been instrumental in establishing Saudi Arabia as a key location for international boxing, having organized several significant fights in recent years.
Although Fury has yet to face Anthony Joshua, whose fight was stopped by Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September, his return could lead to major matchups in the future.
Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk will attempt to secure another undisputed heavyweight title when he rematches with Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, July 19.
