Pakistan Women’s Team Secures Victory Against Indonesia

The Pakistan women’s football team achieved a significant milestone on Wednesday, defeating Indonesia, the host nation, with a score of 2-0 in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers. The match took place at the Stadium Sport Centre.

The green shirts started strong, with Nadia Khan scoring the first goal in the eighth minute.

Suha Irani extended their advantage just ten minutes later, successfully converting a penalty kick.

Despite creating several opportunities, the Indonesian team was unable to score, as Pakistan’s goalkeeper, Zeeyana Jivraj, prevented them from finding the net.

This win is particularly noteworthy for the Pakistan women’s football team as it represents their first victory since September 2023. Furthermore, the victory was against a team with a higher ranking.

Pakistan is currently ranked 157th in the FIFA women’s football rankings, while Indonesia holds the 95th position.

The green shirts will now face the Kyrgyz Republic on July 5 in their final group-stage match.

This historic win has propelled Pakistan to third place in Group D of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, surpassing the Kyrgyz Republic, who have lost their matches against Chinese Taipei and Indonesia.

Pakistan began their campaign with a defeat, losing 8-0 to Chinese Taipei, who lead the standings with six points and a goal difference of 11.
