Liverpool Rejects Bayern Munich’s Bid for Luis Diaz
Reports surfaced Tuesday indicating that Liverpool turned down an inquiry from Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga powerhouse, regarding Colombian winger Luis Diaz.
According to sources, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, engaged with the Premier League club about a possible transfer. Liverpool, however, clarified that they have no intention of parting ways with the 28-year-old player. The Reds view Diaz as a crucial component of their strategy under the guidance of their new head coach, Arne Slot.
Earlier in the summer, Diaz had also been the subject of interest from Barcelona. Nevertheless, Liverpool promptly dismissed any overtures from the Spanish outfit. Sources within the club have underscored that the winger remains pivotal to their plans for the coming seasons, particularly in light of his strong showing in the 2024/25 campaign.
Since his arrival from Porto in January 2022, Diaz has become an indispensable presence at Anfield. In the recently concluded season, he showcased his abilities by netting 22 goals across all competitions, including 13 in the Premier League, while also providing seven assists. His contributions were instrumental in Liverpool’s successful title bid, where they secured a commanding 10-point lead at the summit of the league.
Despite the fact that he has two years remaining on his existing contract, Liverpool is steadfast in their determination to hold onto him, even in the face of persistent interest from other prominent clubs, such as Manchester City and teams within the Saudi Pro League.
During a press briefing held prior to Colombia’s World Cup qualifier against Peru last month, Diaz reaffirmed his dedication to the Merseyside club but acknowledged that the transfer market is always subject to unforeseen developments.
Diaz Remarks on Future
“I’m very happy at Liverpool — I’ve always said that. If the club gives us a good contract extension, great. If not, I’ll happily stay and finish my two years. It all depends on them. I’m here to give my best and see what’s best for our future,” stated Diaz.
