Asia Cup 2025 Likely to Be Held in UAE

The 17th edition of the Asia Cup is anticipated to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to reports from the Indian media on Wednesday, the competition is tentatively scheduled to commence around September 4 or 5 and conclude on September 21.

A report indicates that the highly anticipated match between Pakistan and India is expected to occur on September 7 in Dubai.

The 17th edition of the prominent tournament will adopt the T20 format. There is a significant likelihood of the two rivals clashing at least twice – initially during the group stage and potentially again in the super four round.

The tournament will consist of six teams, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the UAE.

The format will follow the standard group stage, succeeded by a super four stage, mirroring prior editions.

The official announcement concerning the definitive schedule is projected to be released in the second week of July. In the meantime, promotional efforts have already started, with tournament previews being broadcasted on Indian TV channels and widely shared on social media platforms.

Previously, there were rumors suggesting that India might pull out of the tournament due to political tensions. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refuted these assertions, affirming that no such decision has been made.

Reports from the Indian media further conveyed that India and Pakistan will proceed with their matches against each other in ICC and Asia Cup tournaments. There are no official instructions from either cricket authority to prevent these encounters.

It is worth noting that India holds the title of defending champions, having secured victory in the previous edition, which was played in the ODI format, with a dominant 10-wicket win against Sri Lanka in the final.
