Dodgers Set to Clash with White Sox, Royals to Face Mariners
KANSAS CITY: The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 5-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, propelled by home runs from Enrique Hernandez and Will Smith, alongside a stellar six-inning performance from Justin Wrobleski.
Wrobleski dominated for six innings, conceding just three hits and one walk while recording six strikeouts. Reliever Lou Trivino followed, surrendering a single run on two hits and striking out one.
Hernandez’s two-run homer in the second inning gave the Dodgers the advantage, contributing to their sixth consecutive series win.
The Royals initially took the lead in the first inning when Jonathan India singled off Trivino and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Bobby Witt Jr. then doubled off the left-field wall, putting Kansas City ahead 1-0.
However, the Royals’ offense faltered after the first inning, managing only five hits and striking out 10 times against the Dodgers’ pitching staff.
Royals’ pitcher Kris Bubic (6-6) allowed two runs on three hits and two walks. Steven Cruz conceded two runs on two hits.
The Dodgers capitalized early against Bubic, who threw 56 pitches in the first two innings. In the second, Andy Pages singled and later scored on Hernandez’s home run, giving Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.
Los Angeles extended their lead when Smith homered against Cruz in the sixth. They added two more runs in the seventh with an RBI double from Max Muncy and a run-scoring single from Miguel Rojas.
The Dodgers have won 12 of their last 15 games.
The game’s start was delayed by just over an hour due to rainfall.
The Dodgers will commence a six-game homestand with Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitching against the White Sox on Tuesday night. The Royals will embark on a seven-game road trip, beginning Monday night in Seattle.
