Potential Changes to Pakistan vs. West Indies Series

The West Indies Cricket Board (CWI) is considering a request from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to alter the format of their upcoming series. The PCB has proposed converting the scheduled One Day Internationals (ODIs) into Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

Should these adjustments be approved, the squad selection for the West Indies tour will likely coincide with the announcement of the team for the Bangladesh series.

Currently, the schedule includes three T20Is and three ODIs between Pakistan and the West Indies.

If the ODIs remain, additional players will be selected for the 50-over matches. Acceptance of the proposal could lead to an expansion of the T20I portion to five or six games, with the first match potentially on July 31.

An official announcement is expected shortly, pending ongoing discussions between the two cricket boards.

The proposed change seeks to better prepare both teams for significant upcoming tournaments, notably the 2025 ACC Men’s Asia Cup (T20 format) and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

According to the present itinerary, the three T20Is are set for July 31, August 2, and August 3. The ODIs are planned for August 8, 10, and 12 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, pending schedule confirmation.

Pakistan is also preparing for a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh next month.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has verified that all games will take place at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, commencing at 5:00 PM (PST).

The Pakistan squad is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on July 16. The series is slated to start on July 20, with subsequent matches on July 22 and July 24.

The two teams last played in May, with Pakistan securing a 3-0 series victory at home.
