Al-Dawsari Sidelined with Injury, Set to Miss Club World Cup

Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia has officially announced that their captain, Salem Al-Dawsari, will be unavailable for the remainder of the FIFA Club World Cup due to a hamstring injury. The announcement was made via the club’s X account.

Following a thorough medical assessment, the club has confirmed that Al-Dawsari will need a treatment and rehabilitation program lasting approximately four to six weeks.

“Medical evaluations have determined that Salem Al-Dawsari has sustained a hamstring injury. He will undergo a treatment and recovery plan that is anticipated to take four to six weeks,” Al-Hilal communicated.

Consequently, the 31-year-old winger will be absent from Al-Hilal’s critical Round of 16 match against Manchester City, which is scheduled for Monday.

Al-Dawsari played an integral part in Al-Hilal’s FIFA Club World Cup journey, demonstrating valuable experience and leadership.

He recently highlighted his significance by scoring the initial goal in Al-Hilal’s crucial 2-0 victory over Mexican team Pachuca on Friday.

His goal established a dominant performance, securing the team’s position in the tournament’s knockout phase.

With that triumph, Al-Hilal solidified their position as Group H runners-up, trailing only Real Madrid.

Al-Dawsari’s efforts proved essential in navigating the team through a highly competitive group stage.

His absence creates a considerable gap in the squad as they prepare for a critical match against Manchester City.

The loss of Al-Dawsari represents a substantial setback to Al-Hilal’s aspirations in the competition, considering his influence on and off the field. Renowned for his speed, skill, and leadership qualities, his absence will necessitate coach Rudi Garcia to revise his tactical strategy when facing one of the world’s most formidable teams.

Despite this adversity, Al-Hilal is steadfast in its determination to leave a significant mark on the global stage as they gear up to face Manchester City — a team filled with world-class players and Champions League experience.
