PDWP Approves Development Schemes Worth Billions

The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has given the nod to 16 significant development projects valued at Rs31.222 billion across various sectors for the fiscal year 2024–25.

These approvals took place during the 86th PDWP meeting, presided over by Chairman of the Planning and Development Board, Dr. Naeem Rauf. The initiatives encompass vital areas such as irrigation, fisheries and wildlife, forestry, as well as roads and bridges.

Key Approved Projects

  • Establishment of Cath Labs in selected District Headquarters Hospitals throughout Punjab, with an investment exceeding Rs2.044 billion.
  • Construction of the Pari Saydein Dam in the Rawalpindi District, with an estimated cost of Rs3.973 billion.
  • A water logging reduction project in Rahim Yar Khan, budgeted at Rs2.887 billion, also secured approval.

Additional Approved Schemes

Further approved initiatives include the establishment of a Model Fish Market in Lahore, allocated Rs48.138 million, the refurbishment of the Sialkot–Marala Road at Rs1.372 billion, and upgrades to the DI Khan to Darya Khan Road, costing Rs1.067 billion. Further road development projects have been sanctioned in regions including Sheikhupura, Farooqabad, Tammun, Nowshera Virkan, Sharaqpur, Renala Khurd, and Chiniot.

The PDWP also authorized the dualization and reconstruction of Shahi Road in Rahim Yar Khan, along with the Kharian–Dinga–Mandi Bahauddin Road up to Amra Kalan.
