Pakistan Gears Up for AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers

Pakistan is poised to participate for the first time in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026 qualifiers after the official draw determined the group stage pairings.

The national futsal team finds itself in Group D, facing tough competition from Iraq, Chinese Taipei, and Saudi Arabia, the group’s host nation. These teams are well-known within the Asian futsal scene.

Scheduled from September 20th to 24th, the qualification matches will involve 31 teams vying for 16 available slots in the final tournament.

The top team from each of the eight groups, along with the seven highest-ranked second-place finishers and host Indonesia, will advance to the 18th edition of this prestigious continental event, set to be held from January 27th to February 7th, 2026.

To advance to the finals, Pakistan needs to win their group or secure a spot among the seven best runners-up from all the groups.

Given Iraq’s superior ranking and Saudi Arabia’s advantage as hosts, the Green Shirts must perform exceptionally well in all three of their scheduled matches.

In recent years, Pakistan’s futsal program has seen considerable advancements, with increasing numbers of players transitioning from local beginnings to representing the nation.

However, with matches against Saudi Arabia and Iraq, the path to Indonesia is predicted to be challenging.

Nevertheless, Pakistan’s involvement in these qualifiers signifies a key advancement in their quest for recognition in the region. A noteworthy performance in September could improve their chances of qualifying and support their progress in Asia’s developing futsal environment.
