Chandler Anticipates Return to UFC No Sooner Than 2026
Following his TKO defeat to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314, UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler discussed his potential return to the octagon. The former Bellator lightweight champion experienced a significant setback in Miami, marking his third successive loss in the UFC.
The match concluded after Chandler received a severe cut from a strong knee strike, which led to the referee stopping the fight. Despite the defeat, Chandler remained positive as he went back to his home in Nashville, Tennessee.
In a recent discussion in New York, Chandler, also known as ‘Iron,’ stated that he likely will not compete until late 2025 or early 2026.
“I’m making the most of the summer. There’s nothing on the schedule. No opponents, no confirmed dates,” Chandler stated.
“I’ve advised them not to reach out until the fall. While we’re in contact regarding other ventures and promotional opportunities, fighting is unlikely to happen until the end of this year or the beginning of next year.”
Chandler also offered personal insights, conveying his appreciation for his well-being and highlighting the value of family time.
“Fortunately, I’m feeling good. I took some time off to be with my family. We recently welcomed a new daughter ten weeks ago. It’s been beneficial to take a step back, adjust to the new family dynamic—now that we’re a family of five—and enjoy our new home in Tennessee. I’ve been off the radar for a while, and I’ll reappear when it’s time to have some fun again,” he concluded.
