Schumacher Dismisses Media Speculation Regarding Vasseur’s Ferrari Future

Ralf Schumacher has refuted media reports concerning the potential departure of Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur from the Formula 1 team.

Earlier this month, Vasseur also criticized media outlets for propagating speculations about his future with Ferrari, characterizing the discussions surrounding the team as ‘disrespectful’ and the rumors as ‘really hurting the team’.

During a podcast appearance, former F1 driver Schumacher invalidated the rumors that had been circulating in the Italian media.

Schumacher stated, “There are whispers suggesting Fred Vasseur is applying the brakes, but this isn’t accurate. Numerous initiatives aren’t being executed as expected, despite having been requested.”

He further commented, “If I were to make a choice today, I would opt for Andreas Seidl. However, Andreas Seidl cannot operate effectively in isolation; he requires a supporting structure around him.”

Following the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, Vasseur addressed the speculation about his future, expressing that it was severely unfair to have such stories disseminated in the press.

Vasseur remarked, “To bring this matter to a close, and to avoid adding fuel to the fire, I was completely conscious of the situation when I joined Ferrari, and I can only hold myself accountable. If I wished to avoid such narratives, it would have been wiser to abstain.”

He continued, “However, it is exceedingly harsh on the team, on the 1500 individuals, to have their names circulated in the press in this manner, suggesting that changes are necessary. It’s not merely about a name or a position; it involves individuals with families who will have seen these reports.”

“Consequently, every Monday, people enter my office to inquire, ‘Is it true?’ and I must reassure them, ‘No, it is not true. Remain calm’.”
