Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton to Clash in King of the Ring Final

Cody Rhodes is poised to reignite his storied rivalry with Randy Orton as the two former allies are set to face off in the King of the Ring final. The event is scheduled to take place at the Night of Champions premium live event on June 28 in Saudi Arabia.

Rhodes secured his spot in the final round after a challenging victory against Jey Uso in the semi-finals, which aired on this week’s Monday Night Raw.

During the main event, Rhodes, a former Undisputed Champion, successfully pinned Orton, a former World Heavyweight Champion, in a closely contested match that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.

This event will mark Orton’s second successive appearance in a King of the Ring final.

Notably, Orton reached the final in 2024 but was defeated by Gunther, who subsequently won the World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam.

Although WWE has not yet verified whether the 2025 King of the Ring victor will also receive a title opportunity at SummerSlam, there is increasing speculation regarding the possibility.

Should a title shot be granted, Cody Rhodes may find himself on a path to face John Cena, who previously triumphed over Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 to secure his record-breaking 17th world championship.

With Cena expected to participate in SummerSlam’s headline event, a potential rematch between Rhodes and Cena could be in the works, a storyline that many fans are eagerly anticipating.

Rhodes has the opportunity to seize the championship and avenge his defeat at WrestleMania in what could be one of the summer’s most exciting matches.

Alternatively, if WWE decides to revisit Orton’s unresolved conflict with Gunther, Orton could potentially emerge as the victor.

Orton previously challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin but was unsuccessful. A win at the King of the Ring could set the stage for a highly anticipated rematch.
