Pre-Monsoon Rains Expected Across Upper and Central Regions of Pakistan

The Meteorology Department announced on Monday that moisture-laden currents originating from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are influencing the upper and central sections of the country. This is expected to bring about pre-monsoon rainfall intermittently from June 20 to 23 (today).

The department also indicated that a westerly weather system is anticipated to move towards the upper regions on June 20 (Friday).

This weather pattern is likely to cause dust storms, rain accompanied by wind, and thunderstorms, with the possibility of intense rainfall and hailstorms in various areas including Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, D.I. Khan, and Waziristan.

Additionally, dust storms, rain, and thunderstorms are forecast for Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kalat, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Sahiwal between June 21 and 23.

Furthermore, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad may experience dust storms, rain, and thunderstorms from June 22 to 24.
