PM Urges Swift Approval of Industrial Policy

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the importance of swiftly finalizing the long-awaited industrial policy, demonstrating a firm commitment to revitalizing the nation’s struggling manufacturing base.

During a high-level meeting, the Prime Minister cautioned that years of unstable and unpredictable policies have stifled industrial expansion and hampered export capabilities.

“Inconsistent industrial policies have impeded industrial progress,” he stated directly, promising that the updated policy will “propel industrial advancement to unprecedented levels.”

He emphasized that the industrial sector is the foundation of the nation’s exports and insisted that strengthening this sector is crucial for realizing lasting, export-driven economic growth – an objective he noted has been difficult to attain for too long.

Sharif emphasized the necessity for a proficient workforce and state-of-the-art technology that aligns with global standards, articulating the government’s objective to transform domestic industries into formidable global players.

He also pledged to stimulate investment through tariff adjustments, intending to foster a business-supportive environment attractive to both local and international investors.

The meeting featured presentations of proposals aimed at revitalizing the manufacturing sector, with key figures such as Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema and Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar participating.
