Anderson’s Perspective: The Toughest Batter Between Kohli and Tendulkar

Renowned fast bowler James Anderson has given his assessment on the comparison between the ‘Fab Four’ and Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.

The term ‘Fab Four’ is commonly used in cricket to refer to Virat Kohli of India, Steve Smith of Australia, Joe Root of England, and Kane Williamson. These players have consistently been among the top batsmen for the past decade.

Anderson, England’s leading Test wicket-taker, shared his thoughts on the comparison with Tendulkar during a podcast appearance.

Without hesitation, the former bowler placed Tendulkar ahead of the Fab Four.

When questioned about comparing the Fab Four to Tendulkar, Anderson responded, “Just below Tendulkar.”

He was then asked to name the most challenging batsman to bowl to between Tendulkar and Kohli.

James Anderson praised Kohli for his competitiveness, noting his ability to recover and improve on his weaknesses.

Anderson’s Analysis of Kohli

“I had some success against Kohli early on, during his first tour to England in 2014. I took advantage of his vulnerability outside off-stump. However, the next time I faced him, he had clearly worked on that weakness and had become a completely different player,” Anderson stated.

“He elevated his game significantly, making it tough for bowlers in general, not just myself. I dismissed him four or five times in the initial series but failed to do so in our subsequent encounters.

“In contrast, I didn’t observe such a significant shift in dominance with Sachin. With Kohli, the change was evident. He was a formidable player to bowl to because of his strong mindset and eagerness to compete. He is incredibly competitive, and after my initial success, it became very challenging to bowl against him,” Anderson concluded.
