Pakistan’s WTC 2025-27 Schedule Announced
The complete schedule for Pakistan’s ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle has been revealed. It includes 13 Test matches across six series over the course of the next two years.
Notably absent from the schedule are matches against India and Australia, who are considered top-tier teams in Test cricket. The last time Pakistan and India competed in a Test series was in 2007, and a contest between the two nations remains unaddressed due to existing political tensions.
According to the announced schedule, Pakistan will participate in three Test series on their home ground and another three abroad. The home series will feature two-Test matches each against South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.
Away from home, Pakistan is slated to tour Bangladesh and the West Indies for two-Test series each. This will be followed by a three-Test tour of England scheduled for August–September 2026.
While not having to face India and Australia might make Pakistan’s path seem easier, their performance in the most recent format has caused some apprehension.
In the previous WTC cycle (2023–25), Pakistan finished at the bottom of the rankings, with only five wins out of 14 games.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is continuing its policy of choosing squads based on specific formats; however, the team is still in search of a permanent Test captain and head coach. This leadership vacuum is a crucial issue to address before the new cycle begins.
Pakistan is set to commence their WTC 2025–27 campaign with a home series against South Africa in October–November 2025.
Following this, they will embark on away tours to Bangladesh in March 2026, the West Indies, and England. The cycle will then conclude with home series against Sri Lanka in November 2026 and New Zealand in March 2027.
The WTC 2025–27 is scheduled to officially begin on June 17 with the first Test match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Galle International Stadium.
