PSG Set to Clash with Botafogo at Rose Bowl Stadium This Thursday
PASADENA: In their debut appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) showcased dominance with a decisive 4-0 victory against Atletico Madrid at the Rose Bowl Stadium on Sunday.
Fabian Ruiz initiated the scoring drive in the 19th minute, executing a precise low shot into the corner of the net.
Just before the halftime break, Vitinha extended PSG’s lead, powerfully driving the ball through the heart of the Spanish club’s defensive line.
Atletico’s Julian Alvarez managed to find the net, but the goal was nullified due to a foul committed by Koke on Desire Doue during the play’s development.
Senny Mayulu further solidified PSG’s advantage with a goal in the 87th minute, followed by Lee Kang-in converting a penalty during stoppage time.
Over their last three games, PSB has demonstrated remarkable offensive capabilities, outscoring opponents 12-0, which includes a 5-0 triumph over Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
Parisiens’ manager, Luis Enrique, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance post-match.
“Each player is improving and contributing their finest attributes to the team. I am very pleased as the coach,” stated Enrique.
Vitinha, recognized as the Man of the Match, highlighted the team’s collaborative spirit.
“I consistently emphasize the importance of teamwork. It was a strong showing despite the challenging heat, and we performed well against a formidable opponent. We all know that Atletico is a resilient and aggressive team, and we managed the game effectively,” Vitinha commented.
“We maintained control throughout the match and could have potentially scored additional goals, but we are content with the outcome,” he concluded.
PSG is scheduled to return to the Rose Bowl on Thursday evening for a match against Botafogo.
