Karachi Braces for Expected Rainfall and Thunderstorms
Following a period of intense heat, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated that Karachi is anticipated to experience rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, in various areas on Monday.
The weather forecast from the Met Office suggests that the next 24 hours will be characterized by humid conditions and partly cloudy skies.
The meteorological department stated, “The maximum temperature may reach between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius.”
The PMD noted that the air humidity is at 73%, with warm winds blowing from the northwest at a speed of three kilometers per hour.
According to the department, the lowest temperature recorded in the past 24 hours was 30°C.
On June 13, the PMD had predicted that a pre-monsoon weather pattern was likely to affect the eastern sections of Sindh starting Saturday evening.
Earlier reports from Met officials mentioned a westerly wave influencing the upper and central regions of the country, expected to continue through Sunday and Monday. Predominantly hot and dry conditions were expected in most parts of the country, with very high temperatures in plain areas.
However, partly cloudy conditions with dust-storm-rain/thundershowers were probable at isolated locations in North-East and South Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and South-East Sindh, North-East Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
Rainfall was documented in several cities, including Gujrat, Mangla, Sialkot, Islamabad, Murree, Mir Khani, Kalam, Dir, Drosh, Rawalakot, and Gupis.
The highest maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded in Turbat and Pasni, where the mercury reached 49°C.
