Babar Azam Joins Sydney Sixers for BBL 15

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has conveyed his excitement about joining the Sydney Sixers for the approaching KFC Big Bash League (BBL) 15 season. This move signifies a substantial landmark in his T20 career.

In a video message shared by the franchise on Friday, the 30-year-old batting star voiced his anticipation about collaborating with Australian icons Steve Smith and Josh Hazlewood.

Babar stated, “Hey guys, I’m incredibly thrilled to become a part of the Sydney Sixers. I eagerly await the opportunity to share the dressing room with Steve Smith, a batter I admire, and Josh Hazlewood, a world-class bowler.”

He further added, “I’ve consistently enjoyed playing in Australia, but debuting in the BBL will hold special significance. I’m genuinely excited and looking forward to arriving there and connecting with my passionate cricket supporters.”

The right-handed batter also commented on the personal and professional importance of this transition.

Babar remarked, “I feel extremely honored to be associated with the Sydney Sixers for the next season. It presents a thrilling chance to participate in one of the premier T20 leagues globally and to contribute to a highly successful and respected franchise.

As per BBL guidelines, each team is allowed to enlist one international player before the official BBL 15 Draft, which is scheduled for Thursday, June 19.

The Sixers utilized this opportunity to secure the expertise of the Pakistani maestro.

This noteworthy signing will mark Babar’s debut in the BBL, where he will be available for the entire season, including the finals, providing a considerable advantage to the Sixers’ aspirations for the championship.
