Sikandar Raza Reports Racial Abuse by Rival Coach

Lahore Qalandars all-rounder and Pakistan Super League (PSL) star Sikandar Raza has formally filed a complaint with the Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association (HMCA), asserting racial insults were directed at him by a local coach during a Vigne Cup match.

The incident allegedly took place at the Old Hararians Sports Club during a game between Old Hararians and Rainbow Cricket Club.

Raza, who was playing for Old Hararians, alleges that while leaving the field, he was racially abused by a coach from the opposing team.

“I anticipate a thorough investigation,” Raza commented. “If the coach is found culpable, a strong message should be sent to prevent similar occurrences from happening to current and future generations.”

HMCA has been contacted for their response; however, an official statement is still pending.

During the match, the all-rounder delivered an impressive performance, amassing 78 runs from 56 balls, aiding Old Hararians in setting a substantial total of 402 for 9 in 50 overs.

Rainbow Cricket Club scored 225 for 8 in 39 overs, facing a defeat by 142 runs as per the DLS method.

This complaint follows Raza’s successful period in the 2025 Pakistan Super League, where he was instrumental in Lahore Qalandars’ championship victory.

He secured the winning runs in a thrilling final held in Lahore and concluded the tournament with 254 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 169.33, which included two half-centuries. Additionally, he took 10 wickets with an economy rate of 7.75.

This was Raza’s second T20 franchise title this year, after his victory in the ILT20 earlier in 2025.
