Diamondbacks Dominate Cardinals in Decisive Victory

PHOENIX – Fueled by a remarkable two-home run performance from Eugenio Suarez, the Arizona Diamondbacks cruised to a 10-1 triumph over the St. Louis Cardinals at Chase Field on Saturday. This victory marks their third consecutive win in MLB action.

Geraldo Perdomo contributed significantly with three singles and four RBIs, while Ryne Nelson delivered a strong pitching performance, allowing only one run across six innings for the Diamondbacks.

A victory in Sunday’s series finale would secure a clean sweep for Arizona and elevate their record back to .500, keeping them competitive in the National League wild-card race.

The Cardinals managed a single run, courtesy of a solo home run by Alec Burleson in the sixth inning. Nelson’s recent form has been impressive, boasting a 2.29 ERA over his last seven appearances.

Arizona initiated the scoring in the first inning, taking a 3-0 lead after Corbin Carroll’s leadoff triple set the stage for Perdomo’s RBI single.

Following Josh Naylor reaching base due to catcher’s interference with two outs, Suarez propelled a two-run homer into left field.

The Diamondbacks extended their advantage to 5-0 in the second inning with an RBI single from Blaze Alexander. Suarez then homered again in the third, launching a solo shot to right-center field.

St. Louis starter Sonny Gray struggled, conceding a season-high nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits over three and one-third innings, while recording five strikeouts.

The Cardinals, now having lost 10 of their last 14 contests, are set to have Miles Mikolas pitch in the series finale on Sunday. The Diamondbacks will counter with Merrill Kelly.
