PAC Sub-Committee Voices Concerns Over Repeated Toll Tax Hikes

ISLAMABAD: A sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has expressed significant apprehension regarding the steep and repeated increases in toll taxes observed in recent months.

Shahida Begum, serving as the convener of the sub-committee, presided over a meeting to examine audit objections raised by the Ministry of Communications.

The committee members voiced their unease about the multiple increases in toll taxes within a short period. The convener questioned the authority responsible for these increases and the rationale behind levying such substantial taxes on the public.

In response, the Secretary of Communications explained that the ministry operates with its own board, which is authorized to adjust toll taxes periodically.
