Counter-Terrorism Success in Islamabad

Pakistani security agencies have arrested four terrorists from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in connection with the recent suicide attack at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad’s G-11 sector.

The arrests were made during a joint intelligence-led operation by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Officials confirmed that the cell responsible for planning and executing the attack has been dismantled.

Investigations revealed that Sajidullah alias “Sheena”, the handler of the suicide bomber, confessed to receiving instructions via Telegram from TTP commander Saeed-ur-Rehman alias Dadullah, who is based in Afghanistan. Dadullah directed the attack to maximize casualties among law enforcement agencies.

The suicide bomber, identified as Usman alias “Qari”, reportedly from Nangarhar, Afghanistan, detonated explosives near a police vehicle after failing to enter the court premises. The blast killed 12 people, including lawyer Zubair Aslam Ghuman, and injured more than 36 others, sending shockwaves across the capital.

Authorities emphasized that the arrests mark a significant step in dismantling the TTP/ Fitna al-Khawarij network operating inside Pakistan. The suspects were part of a cell tasked with carrying out high-profile attacks under direct guidance from Afghan-based leadership.

Officials noted that investigations are ongoing, and more arrests may follow as Pakistan intensifies its crackdown on extremist networks. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant while security agencies continue their efforts to safeguard judicial institutions and law enforcement personnel.
