Punjab Airlines Set to Take Off This April

Punjab Airlines, the provincial government’s ambitious aviation project, is gearing up to begin operations in April 2026. According to official sources, seven passenger planes have already been purchased to kickstart the airline’s journey.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has emphasized that the airline will operate with efficiency and profitability at its core. In a strategic move, her existing helicopter will be integrated as the first asset of Punjab Airlines, ensuring no additional burden is placed on the provincial treasury.

For the first two years, Punjab Airlines will focus exclusively on domestic routes, connecting major cities across Pakistan. After this initial phase, the airline plans to expand internationally, offering passengers more travel options and strengthening Punjab’s presence in the aviation sector.

Importantly, CM Maryam and other provincial ministers will use Punjab Airlines for official travel, with full fares paid to maintain transparency and profitability. This approach reflects the government’s commitment to running the airline as a sustainable business rather than a financial liability.

The initiative is designed to maximize resources by utilizing both existing and newly acquired aircraft for passenger services. Officials have confirmed that every flight, including those used by government representatives, will contribute to revenue generation.

With its launch just weeks away, Punjab Airlines is poised to transform provincial travel, offering affordable, reliable, and efficient services while setting the stage for future international expansion. This marks a significant step in modernizing Punjab’s transport infrastructure and enhancing connectivity across the region.
