Pakistan’s T20I Innings Concludes at Record Low Against Bangladesh

MIRPUR: During the initial T20I match against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday, Pakistan faced a setback, concluding their innings with a mere 110 runs. This figure marks their lowest score against Bangladesh in T20I matches.

Notably, this event also signified the first instance of the Tigers dismissing the entire Pakistan team in this format of the game.

The previous lowest score for the national team against Bangladesh was 127-5, achieved in 2021 during a successful pursuit of a target.

Match Summary

Pakistan’s innings began optimistically after they chose to bat, with openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub securing early boundaries to accelerate the scoring.

However, the momentum waned when Saim was dismissed in the second over by Taskin Ahmed for six runs, reducing Pakistan to 18-1 after 1.5 overs.

Mohammad Haris then hit a boundary off Mahedi Hasan, but was caught out on the subsequent ball, further diminishing Pakistan’s position to 32-2 in 3 overs.

Captain Agha Salman’s struggle against Tanzim Hasan Sakib ended with his dismissal for 3 runs off 9 balls.

Bangladesh sustained the pressure, with Mustafizur Rahman removing Hassan Nawaz for a duck in the 6th over, leaving Pakistan struggling at 41-4.

The situation worsened when Mohammad Nawaz was run out because of a miscommunication, putting Pakistan in deeper trouble at 46-5 in 7.4 overs.

Fakhar showed some resistance, scoring 44 runs off 34 balls. However, a mix-up with Khushdil Shah resulted in him being run out, leaving the team at 70-6 in 11.3 overs.

Abbas Afridi offered late resistance with three sixes, while Khushdil attempted to stabilize the innings.

Their 33-run partnership ended when Mustafizur dismissed Khushdil for 17, with the score at 103-7 in 16.2 overs.

Taskin Ahmed then returned to wrap up the innings, dismissing Faheem Ashraf (5), running out debutant Salman Mirza for a duck, and concluding the innings by removing Abbas Afridi for 22.

Taskin Ahmed spearheaded the bowling attack with three wickets, while Mustafizur took two. Mahedi Hasan and Tanzim Hasan Sakib each claimed one wicket, as Bangladesh’s coordinated bowling dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup.
