Liverpool Reportedly Agrees to Deal for Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool has reportedly reached a record-setting agreement worth over £78 million (approximately $105 million), with the potential to rise to £82 million (approximately $110 million), for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to international reports on Sunday.

Sources indicate that Liverpool initially pursued Newcastle’s Alexander Isak; however, following Newcastle’s rejection of the offer, the Reds prioritized Ekitike.

It was reported that Newcastle also submitted an offer to Frankfurt for Ekitike, but the French footballer chose to join the Premier League contenders.

The 23-year-old, who played in 31 matches for Frankfurt in the previous season, achieving 15 goals, is anticipated to undergo a medical evaluation shortly.

Hugo Ekitike excels not only as a scorer but also as a provider. Besides his goal-scoring capabilities, his eight assists placed him among the top 6% of forwards in Germany for opportunity creation during the last season.

Ekitike also led in shots on goal, recording 117 on target in the Bundesliga last season, surpassing all other players.

His expected goals figure was 21.6, making him the league’s second highest in that statistic.

Ekitike’s move from Paris Saint-Germain to Frankfurt became permanent last summer, after a successful loan period during the latter half of the 2023/24 season.

In related news, reports suggest that Liverpool turned down Bayern Munich’s offer of €67.5 million for Luis Diaz.

Nevertheless, the German champions are under the impression that the Colombian winger is interested in joining them, leading to a renewed bid for the 28-year-old.

Since his arrival from Porto in January 2022, Diaz has become a crucial player at Anfield. The previous campaign marked Díaz’s most fruitful season with Liverpool, as he scored 17 goals across all competitions and was instrumental in Liverpool’s title-winning performance, where they secured a 10-point lead at the top.

Liverpool reportedly has no intention of parting ways with the 28-year-old and is not open to further offers.
