Salman Confident in Team’s Aggressive Approach for T20I Series Against Bangladesh

DHAKA: Pakistan’s T20I captain, Salman Ali Agha, conveyed his optimism regarding his team’s potential to showcase a robust performance in the forthcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. He emphasized that the players are free from pressure and are prepared to engage in an assertive style of cricket.

In discussions with the media in Dhaka preceding the initial T20I, Salman characterized the series as a demanding one, while expressing anticipation for a favorable result.

He recognized the capabilities of the Bangladesh team, stating, “They represent a formidable team and present significant challenges to their competitors both domestically and internationally. However, we are equally equipped to exhibit aggressive cricket.”

Salman further mentioned that his involvement in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), along with several other players, has provided them with valuable insights into the local conditions.

He pointed out that the team had also tailored their training regimen accordingly during their preparatory camp in Karachi, where pitches were designed to replicate the conditions in Dhaka.

Key to Success

“Understanding the environment is crucial. We have geared up to adjust our gameplay according to the pitch and match dynamics. Our prior experience in the BPL grants us an advantage here,” he stated.

The captain lauded the contributions of veteran players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, referring to them as world-class cricketers who have consistently performed for Pakistan.

He asserted that the existing squad possesses the appropriate combination of players to execute an attacking brand of T20 cricket.

Evolving T20 Cricket

“Babar and Rizwan are exceptional talents. Their service to Pakistan has been remarkable. The landscape of T20 cricket is continuously changing.

  • We have players in the squad who match the style of cricket we want to play.
  • There’s no pressure, our focus is solely on playing good cricket in this series,” he concluded.

The trophy for the three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh was revealed at a ceremony in Dhaka on Saturday. The captains of both teams, Salman Ali Agha of Pakistan and Liton Das of Bangladesh, participated in a photo session with the trophy.

The green shirts are scheduled to participate in three T20Is against Bangladesh on July 20, 22, and 24, with all matches to be held at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

This series constitutes a rematch between the two teams following their previous encounter in May, where Pakistan secured a 3-0 victory at home.
