PSB Demands Financial Records from PHF Amid Transparency Concerns

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has formally requested the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to submit a comprehensive account of foreign trips undertaken by its leadership, specifically the president and secretary, along with detailed financial reports of all related expenditures.

This directive emerges amid growing worries about financial accountability and alleged instances where national players did not receive their entitled allowances during international competitions.

In a formal communication addressed to the PHF, the PSB has stated that the responsibility for covering travel expenses and daily allowances for players and officials falls squarely on the federation, not the Sports Board itself.

The letter referenced the recent Nations Cup in Malaysia, during which players allegedly did not receive their TA/DA, despite assurances of funds being available.

According to the PSB, the PHF has not provided necessary documentation regarding the allocation of government funding from the prior year.

The PSB indicated that repeated reminders, both verbal and written, were given to the PHF president and secretary to share their financial records, yet a suitable response has not been provided.

The PHF had confirmed in writing that it possessed adequate funds in its accounts as of May 30, 2025. Nevertheless, players allegedly did not receive the allowances to which they were entitled.

An additional official request for clarification was made on July 20, but a response had not been issued as of the time of reporting.

The PSB has stressed that should the PHF be experiencing any financial difficulties, it must first provide complete records before seeking further financial support.

The requested documentation includes six months of bank statements, details of all international travels undertaken by the federation’s senior officials, and comprehensive breakdowns of the costs incurred during those travels.

The Sports Board has also requested information regarding the establishment of a new PHF office in Islamabad, along with validation that the federation’s executive board approved the relocation.

These demands underscore the PSB’s increasing emphasis on ensuring financial transparency among national sporting federations.
